| Before Going Vietnam |
Passport and Visas
Visas are required by all nationalities. If visas are to be obtained via Himalayan Treasures & Travels, the following personal data must be supplied to us at least 2 (two) weeks before travel to Vietnam:
- full name as per passport
- passport number / date of issuance and expiry
- date and place of birth
- occupation and nationality
Visas are usually delivered by the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok or in passengers' home country (against the visa approval) who requires the original passport and 2 photos for 2 (two) full working days in order to stamp the visa. Visas can only be requested via Himalayan Treasures & Travels in connection with the booking of travel arrangements to Vietnam. |

Currency and Exchange
The local currency is the Dong. The rate of exchange is approximately Dong 11,500 to one U.S. Dollar. Credit cards are not widely accepted. Travellers cheques and currencies other than U.S. Dollars are only accepted by major banks. It is best to carry U.S. Dollar bills in small denominations. |

Climate
Vietnam can be visited throughout the year. Vietnam has a tropical climate in the North and a sub-equatorial climate in the South. Generally, the coolest month is January where it can be very cold in the North. The hottest months are March and April in the South and July, August in the North. The rainy season lasts from May to October.

No actual vaccinations are presently required.

Airport Tax
US$8.- per person is levied on passengers leaving Ho Chi Minh City on international flights.
US$7.- per person is levied on passengers leaving Hanoi on international flights. |

Confirmation
The confirmation of tour arrangements in Vietnam is subject to issuance of a visa at the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok or in passenger's home country.
