Trekking is one of the most popular activities in Nepal. Thus, it isn’t hard to find assistance and gear. Tourists are bewildered by the sheer number of guides, organized tours and gear available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. You can either buy or even rent gear. The amount of choices and options that are available is incredible which enables anyone and everyone to enjoy trekking in Nepal. You may have a plan, an expedition to far flung places that only some dare to travel or you may just set foot in Kathmandu with no plans and yet it would be a matter of no surprise if you happen to find yourself on one of the trails in no time.
The common misconception about trekking in Nepal is that most think it involves walking through unfamiliar territory all alone. But, that isn’t true. Trekking in Nepal is not always entirely traveling alone through dense wilderness. The trekking paths are all well-defined and trekkers always find themselves coming face to face with other trekkers and most importantly the locals as they pass through every day carrying food, water and other necessary supplies back to their tiny villages. The locals provide tea houses and a place to rest for the trekkers to recover and resume. Thus, this way the trekkers are also able to experience the wide array of people, culture and traditions of Nepal.
