Holi is the festival of Colours where people play with different colours. Another name of Holi Festival is Fagu Purnima. Hindu people celebrate this festival welcoming of summer and farewell of winter in Southern Asia. Holi falls on the Full moon day in Phalgun Month. Therefore it is named Fagu Purnima.
In order to get blessing of God for upcoming harvests and fertility of the land, people celebrate this Holi festival. Fagu Purnima is the festival of color, friendships and love.
In Nepal, Holi generally falls on the Month of Falgun. It begin one week before final day of Holi. During the holi, people erect long bamboo stick covered with pieces of different color cloths in Bashantapur Durbar square, Kathmandu. The lingo is taken down and the Chir is burnt down on the eve of Holi named Chir Haran or Holika Dahan. After this burning, Holi starts.
Holi Festival is the wonderful combination of different colors, water, sweets and music. It is great festival from the Child to the Old people. They put different colors on the face on each other as a token of love. During Holi, People go to the relatives’ house and celebrate and Young people rander here and there in a group playing. People make Water Guns Called :Pichkari” in Nepali. This Pichkari is used to throw the coloured water to friends or relative to enjoy the Great Festival. But nowadays, You can find Plastic Pichari and Water Balloons. In Nepal, With Great Enjoy and excitement people enjoys Holi.
