Kalinchowk lies at an elevation of 3842m above sea-level. It is located at a distance of about 150 kilometers from Kathmandu. The road to Kalinchowk is best traveled in a jeep as the journey is long and inclined. En route tourist pass through many villages like Charikot which is at a distance of 132 kilometers from Kathmandu. Next village is the Kuri Village from where Kalinchowk is 18 kilometers away.
Kalinchowk lies in Dolakaha district and is one of the most famous destinations during winter. Many visitors from Kathmandu travel to Kalinchowk to enjoy the snowfall and the magnificent view. Moreover, it is also a famous pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. Kalinchowk is accessible all year round. On a clear day, one can expect to get mouth-watering views of the great Himalayan snow-clad peaks such as Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Shisha Pangma, Gauri Shankar, etc. and even the Kathmandu valley.
