Chitwan is situated 164 kilometers away from Kathmandu. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Nepal owing to its exotic wildlife.
It takes about 4 to 5 hours to reach Chitwan from Kathmandu. The journey is filled with beautiful sites of green rolling hills and the mighty Himalayan rivers flowing below. Furthermore, the newly renovated highway has made traveling to Chitwan very comfortable.
Chitwan is especially famous for its wildlife. The Chitwan National Park is the major attractor in Nepal. This World Heritage Site covers 932 sq km of protected forests, marshland and grassland containing several exotic animals and birds.
There are a lot of things one can do here like a guided walk in the jungle, jeep safari, canoe trip, bird watching, a night stay in jungle tower and many more. The park is home to rare and endangered species like the one-horned rhino, the sloth bear and the great Bengal Tiger. There are also more than 500 species of birds, which makes it an excellent site for bird watching.
The best time to visit Chitwan would be October and November as there a lot of festivities happening at this time.
