Jiri, known as the ‘The Switzerland of Nepal’ lies at an altitude of 1,905 meters. Jiri lies in the Dolakha District in north-eastern Nepal. Jiri is famous for its snow-clad mountains, green ambiance, and its clean environment. Jiri used to be the gateway to the Everest region before the introduction of the flight route to Lukla. It is still an alternative way to reach the Everest region. The trekking route from Jiri takes 3-4 days to reach Lukla. The route is less crowded and passes through many Sherpa Villages.
Jiri hosts many lodges and hotels for well-known for their service and comfort. Many travels to Jiri for short hikes and recreational purposes. Jiri offers spectacular views of the snow-clad Himalayan giants such as Ganesh Himal, Mount Dorje Lakpa and Gauri Shankar Himal.
The road to Jiri from Kathmandu takes around six to eight hours. The most comfortable way to reach Jiri on road is through a privately hired 4×4.
